Every year 3,400 Albertans disappear... in a puff of smoke

Each year, tobacco use kills approximately 3,400 Albertans. In fact, tobacco use is responsible for more deaths than HIV/AIDS, traffic collisions, murders, suicides, and illicit drug use combined. If you think smoking isn't a big deal in Alberta, think again.

To help raise awareness about tobacco as a public health issue, AADAC published a four-page newspaper insert on Nov. 16, 2003.

It's time to tell the truth about tobacco

A magazine, titled It's time to tell the truth about tobacco , was delivered to more than one million Alberta households and 7,700 health facilities. The magazine features information on the health effects of tobacco use, second-hand smoke, how to quit, and the tobacco industry.
