Clientele Served
- individuals who experience gambling-related emotional distress that can be managed in a social-support setting
- individuals who experience gambling-related physical stress symptoms such as sleep and eating disturbances
- individuals who are unable to refrain from gambling
Program/Service Description
- offers a safe and supportive environment for adult men and women who are experiencing severe, non-life-threatening emotional and physical distress as a result of their gambling behaviour
- provides physical and emotional stabilization, information sessions and an introduction to self-help groups
- refers clients to the NAC Residential Gambling Treatment Program based on assessment and the client’s readiness for change
Referral Information
- The Gambling Stabilization service is offered as a part of the Northern Addictions Centre detox service.
- Individuals may walk in or phone ahead for bed availability.
- Priority is given to pregnant women and Alberta residents.
- Clients assessed as having a high risk of suicide should not be referred to this service.
Additional Notes
- Gambling Stabilization services are voluntary and free of charge.
