Clientele Served

People needing a safe and supportive environment during withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs.

Program/Service Description

• offers 20 bed facility that provides safe detoxification services
• provides 24-hour care by qualified nursing staff and a consulting physician
• provides health stabilization, assessment, referral, information sessions and an introduction to self-help groups
• offers addiction treatment planning, facilitated by an addictions counsellor
• offers a short-term Problem Gambling Stabilization Program for men and women experiencing non-life-threatening crisis related to gambling

Referral Information

• No appointment is necessary, but phoning ahead will reduce waiting time.
• Priority access is given to pregnant women and Alberta residents.
• Length of stay depends on assessed need (usually four to seven days). A Residential Treatment Program is also available at NAC.
• The Business and Industry Clinic provides specialized residential support and services to employers and employees.
